This Privacy Policy explains how Chore Ace, operated by CC Project Controls Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use the Chore Ace application ("the App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect the following information when you use Chore Ace:

Parent account data: name, email address, and profile information provided via Google, Apple, or email sign-in.
Child profile data: first name or nickname, avatar selection, and a 4-digit PIN set by the parent. We do not collect email addresses or any identifying information from children.
Chore and activity data: chores created, completed, approved, points earned, and pocket money balances.
Photos: if a parent enables photo proof for a chore, the child may upload a photo which is stored securely.
Payment data: subscription billing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store card details on our systems.
Referral data: referral codes and the number of successful referrals linked to your account.
Usage data: basic technical information such as device type and app interactions, used to improve the service.

3. Children's Privacy

Chore Ace is designed for use by families. Child profiles are created and managed entirely by a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Children access the app using a PIN set by their parent and are not required to provide any personal details. Parents are responsible for the information they enter on behalf of their children.

4. How We Use Your Data

To provide and operate the Chore Ace service.
To send you account-related emails such as chore reminders, approval notifications, and weekly summaries.
To process subscription payments via Stripe.
To manage referral rewards.
To improve the App based on usage patterns.
To comply with legal obligations.

5. Legal Basis for Processing

Contract: processing necessary to provide the service you have signed up for.
Legitimate interests: sending service-related emails and improving the app.
Legal obligation: retaining certain records as required by law.
Consent: where you have given explicit consent, such as marketing communications.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Storage), hosted within Google's secure cloud infrastructure. Photos are stored in Firebase Storage with access controls. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Completed chore photos are automatically deleted after 3 days. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial reasons.

8. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with trusted third-party service providers necessary to operate the service:

Google Firebase — database, authentication, and file storage.
Stripe — payment processing.
Resend — transactional email delivery.

All third-party providers are bound by data processing agreements and are required to keep your data secure.

9. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
Object to or restrict processing of your data.
Data portability — receive your data in a structured format.
Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

10. Cookies

Chore Ace uses local storage on your device to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or via a notice in the App. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

12. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
